"Serving others" was something that was missing from Managing Director, life when he worked for Arthur Andersen in their Mergers and Acquisition Strategy group. The job involved a lot of travel and long hours. Corey explains:
"I felt as if I wasn't really 'giving' something to my clients and my community. Growing up, my dad was a business owner (law firm) and he made a significant impact on not only his clients but also the community as a whole. I wanted that same life style. I was looking for what I knew growing up as a kid: A lot of flexibility to be with my family; the ability to make a significant impact on my clients; and the opportunity to be involved and give back to the community."
Corey joined The McTigue Financial Group in 2001. After developing several Financial Representatives as a Field Director as well as building his personal practice, Corey found a way to "serve" in another capacity, as Managing Director of the McTigue Financial Group's Oak Brook District Network Office.
His goal: "Serving and leading representatives to achieve their personal vision of success while recruiting and developing a select group of representatives into the career." Corey enjoys the ability to build and strengthen the relationships with the people he works with and mentoring his staff.
Corey shares his thoughts on his career as a financial representative:
"I didn't see many challenges. The framework is all there for you but you need to complete the day-to-day activity to be successful. I have viewed this career as an opportunity to live my life by design and not by default. I can pursue my passions."
One of those passions includes spending a large amount of time with the Near West Little League, for which Corey was recently honored with a Northwestern Mutual Foundation Community Service Award. He is involved in a bible study group at his church. Corey and his wife serve meals at the Joshua Center, which is a homeless women's shelter. He also mentors students at Chicago Hope Academy.
When asked what he wants most for his clients, Corey offers: "I want to help my clients accomplish a lifestyle in which they know things will be 'good' and that their families will be okay."
