Scott Goldstein, CLU, ChFC, CFP® decided on a career as a financial representative because he saw many men in their mid-40s who were very unhappy in their previous careers. He decided to take his television advertising sales skills and transfer them where he would have more independence, flexibility, and an opportunity to be rewarded based upon his own talent and skills. He has been a financial representative with The McTigue Financial Group since 1993.
Scott talks about his experience as a financial representative: "The greatest reward of being a Financial Representative is the independence and freedom of running my own professional, financial services practice. The freedom, the flexibility, the responsibility and accountability to myself are something I take very seriously. "
"Early in the career, maintaining a consistently high activity level is crucial. There are plenty of ups and downs in the first few years and maintaining a high activity level is the only consistent means of building your career. Along the way, I have learned that my greatest strengths are my intuition, my strategic planning ability and that most people consider me a kind, sincere, committed man."
Scott's practice focuses on Accountants, CFOs, Fortune 500 executives and top sales people. He credits much of his success to Managing Partner, John McTigue and the environment John has created in the Network Office. "This is an excellent organization. There is clear vision and strong leadership."
Everyone has teachers that they particularly admire. One such teacher had valuable advice on the way Scott Goldstein approaches his work. Scott explains, "A wise and respected mentor once told me, ´You make a living by what you earn, but you make a life by what you give.' I love what I do because it has a lasting, meaningful impact on the lives of people I care about."
He has earned numerous awards in his career including the National Sales Achievement Award (1997-1998, 2000-2003, 2006-2008), National Quality Award (1998-2008), and Million Dollar Round Table (Qualifying Member 1996, 1998-2005; Qualifying/Life Member 2006-2008).
Scott currently serves as the Chairperson of Northwestern Mutual's Compliance and Best Practices Committee. The Committee's goal is to partner with Northwestern Mutual's corporate office to create and maintain best business practices that comply with all applicable regulations and company policies, meet or exceed industry standards, and demonstrate the highest standards of professional and ethnical behavior. During Northwestern Mutual's 126th Annual Meeting held in July, 2006, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Scott was asked to speak on a Retirement Planning Panel.
Coaching his children's soccer and baseball teams is a particular pleasure for Scott. He explains, "It has given me the privilege of helping children embrace the values of teamwork, effort, sportsmanship and fun."
"Who I am as a family man and community member has as much to do with the quality of my work as the professional training I've received – perhaps more. My experiences and accomplishments underlie everything I do."
Scott lives in Deerfield, with his wife, Robin and their three children, Dani, Hannah and Levi. The Goldstein family loves taking vacations together and playing games like Scattergories, Cranium and Nok Hockey. He also enjoys swimming, hiking, and reading.
